What You Can Expect in 2019

What You Can Expect in 2019

I’ve been seeing people share their word for the new year. If I could pick one, mine would definitely be “execution.” In 2018, I created this blog to put myself out there, but I sat on so many posts and didn’t execute as planned last year. Over the holiday break, I’ve taken the time to plan my year and think about what I want to share on this platform in 2019. Here’s what you can expect to see more of on the blog and IG:

  • No Spend Months — This year, I’d love to stay focused and limit my spending to 4 budgeted categories: 1) food 2) household essentials 3) fuel 4) bills. With that said, I plan to complete at least 3 no spend months this year, where I don’t spend outside of those categories.

Even during the months where I have things that are pre-planned, I plan to stick to my monthly budget. This budget is something I setup in advance through the EveryDollar app, where I give every dollar a name. I’m not striving for perfection, but this will help me practice self-discipline and avoid many impulse purchases over the year.

  • Budgeting & Debt Free Journey Updates — I’ll be sharing percentages and the measurable milestones I hit on my debt free journey. I’ll also be sharing my wins, losses, tools, and anything I’ve learned along the way. If you’re curious about why I got started, you can read that post here.

Speaking of tools, I’m working on creating a very thorough spreadsheet that helps track income/expenses/debt by paycheck, month, and for the year. It’ll essentially be a guide for those who do not where/how to get started with budgeting and/or for those who just don’t want to spend the hours creating spreadsheets full of formulas. I hope to have this completed and available to download (for free) later this month. If you missed my budgeting post, you can read more here.

  • Monthly Wellness Challenges — My health has really been on the back burner lately, which goes against everything I believe in. Because without your health, you have nothing. Each month, I’m focusing on one health/wellness challenge - whether that’s a specific workout plan or I eliminate/add something to my diet. I encourage everyone to try to focus on one thing at a time, especially if you’re like me and get overwhelmed by all the options and things you’re “supposed” to be doing. I find this to be the better approach if there are a number of better habits to build.

  • Good Reads — I love a good book that has a meaningful message and gives me a different perspective, so I’ll be sure to share those books that are standouts this year. If you have any good recommendations, especially personal development books, please send those my way! I’m always interested in adding more to my list.

  • More Presence — I’d love to connect with more of you who are really just trying to be the best versions of yourselves. I’m not the best about showing a ton of personality, especially on social media. I think this is something I could always work on, but I’m always open 1 on 1. If there’s anything else you’d like for me to share with you guys, please let me know.

To make it easier to follow everything I mentioned here, I’ve created these as highlights on my IG. I think it’s fair to say that you may find more activity on my IG stories than IG feed or the blog. However, I am looking forward to clicking publish on many blog posts I have saved for you.

What is your word of the year or what are you working on this month?
