Anyone close to me knows that I like to get to the root cause of an issue, especially when it affects my wellness. I don't believe in just treating or covering up symptoms. Sometimes I need to do my own research and dig deeper to find answers.
This week, I wanted to share some of my top wellness finds that have been game changers for me.
1. Schmidt's Aluminum-Free Deodorant. I first heard about aluminum-free deodorants when my migraines were out of control years ago. I had several tests done and quickly learned some of the triggers, but I didn't have all the answers. I chatted with my doctor (homeopathic) and after an assessment, she suggested switching to a non-aluminum deodorant to help reduce the amount of aluminum in my system. Not the typical diagnosis you'd expect, am I right?
I've tried a few brands before landing on this one. Schmidt's is effective and doesn't require you to reapply throughout the day, which was a common theme for some other brands. It's a plant-based powder that is free of aluminum, propylene glycol, parabens, phthalates and artificial fragrance. They have several different options, but I've bene using the fragrance free one this month.
2. LOLA. How are we using approximately 10,000 feminine products in our lifetime and NOT talking about what's in them? These women get it. 3. Peppermint Essential Oils. Peppermint is my favorite scent and luckily, it's known to help relieve stress. Add a few drops into your diffuser (or 9 if you're intense like me) and it really gives your place a spa vibe. I do this almost daily and I don't feel bad because it doesn't have all the chemicals candles come with. Don't have a diffuser? Add a few drops onto a tissue and place it inside your pillow.
4. Garden of Life Probiotics. I saved the best for last. For years, I relied heavily on antibiotics once a month and eventually I was on the verge of sepsis when they no longer worked for me. I knew I needed to address the actual issue, so I did my own research and learned more about gut health. It's no secret that an unhealthy gut (mostly due to poor diet) can wreck havoc on your body and be the culprit for many health issues, including chronic infections. Being on antibiotic overload can also kill the good bacteria in your gut.
[ Enter probiotics. ] I have taken these an average of 3 times per week for the last 2 years. Since then, I've only I only needed 1 antibiotic and have avoided getting sick from anything contagious. I DO NOT believe in miracle pills, but probiotics and a cleaner diet have been done wonders to my body. I share all this because I've learned how wonderful it is to be more proactive with my health rather than reactive.
